Description PJ 2013-01-29 16:32:47 UTC
Steps to reproduce:

Configure MTVS to use a build server
Make that build server unavailable to the Windows machine
Open an MTVS project.
Wait 5 minutes

Expected behavior
The user should not see a timeout dialog.

The user does not need to know that VS couldn't connect to the build host until they're actually trying to use a build host, and showing the dialog

Actual behavior:
User sees a timeout dialog a few minutes into working on an app, which is confusing.

Reported against MTV 1.0.791

I can't make it crash here :(

But I am running 6.1 SDK (Xcode 46).

IIRC This sample use EventKit and you need iOS 6 to run.

If this sample work only with iOS 6 we need to fix the Deployment Target to be
sure nobody will try to run on the iOS 5.1

PJ are still able to repro this?
Comment 5 PJ 2013-05-07 16:24:04 UTC
I don't see this behavior any longer, I've been sitting here after running the case for a good several minutes, and no timeout dialog appears.

I do, however, feel like there's now a new behavior that could be improved. In this case now, there's no indication that the Mac build host is no longer available. When I try to build/run, it just immediately stops the build process with no notification in any of the output streams.

I will file this new behavior separately.

I see this fixed with 1.1.201. 360logica please verify once we move into the 1.2.x MTVS release.

We are not able to reproduce this issue with MTVS 1.1.200.

We will verify this issue again with MTVS 1.1.201 and MTVS 1.2.x, when we will get these new builds of MTVS.

Today we have checked this issue with following builds:

All Windows
VS 2012/2010
iOS for VS 1.2.121

And we have checked it for 7-8 minutes and we are not seeing Timeout dialog when build host is unreachable.

Changing the status to Verified.
