Description Stuart Lodge 2013-01-10 06:23:45 UTC
Details in http://forums.xamarin.com/discussion/753/pcl-compile-issue-in-monotouch-possibly-evaluation-only#latest

Mac installed with

    MonoDevelop 3.0.6
    Mono 2.10.9 (tarball)
    Xcode 4.5.2 (1847)
    Monotouch: 6.0.8
    Mac OS X 10.8.2

I'm struggling with a client setup on this one. They're asking if this is a stable product set... and whether PCLs will ever work :(

Have you tried installing the trial on your machine to see if that's actually the issue?

No - I'm out of license at present (as of mid-Dec) and don't have any new iOS customers lined up - so I can't afford to break my Mac by uninstalling the active license (just in case it never gets back on there again).

Sorry - but I pay for licenses out of my own pocket

The fix seemed to be the <csctoolexe> stuff from:

https://bugzilla.xamarin.com/show_bug.cgi?id=6649

and

http://stackoverflow.com/questions/12041290/monodevelop-is-it-possible-to-switch-pcls-compiler/12062589#12062589

Even though I'm sure this has been fixed in previous releases - and it's marked as fixed in git for 2-10?

I know Xamarin aren't too keen on PCLs, and I accept that the way they build on Monotouch is against the MonoTouch libraries, but I still find PCLs very useful for my coding style (using Resharper) and it would be nice if they built in MonoTouch without users having to hack the MSBuild targets.
