this resolved bug and you do not yet see a matching new report.
If I try to type a |, which is done using "alt"+"/", it works in every applications except in MonoDevelo which seams to interpret this key sequence as a special insert: a different word everytime is entered in my code but I don't know where it comes from exactly.
This is bound to the emacs-style "dynamic abbrev" command. You should be able to work around this by removing this keybinding in preferences.
Not sure whether we should remove this keybinding or try to find some way of ignoring keybindings that "block" input.
It works. Could we change the default binding on OS X to something like ^/ which is not bind to a character?
Maybe it would be appropriate to use Control-/.

Should we just make this change so users can type vertical pipes?
