RESOLVED DUPLICATE of bug 56

Description Neal 2011-09-19 09:59:49 UTC
Hello,

As developers we need to test our apps not only in our region such as en-US but also other locales to ensure international support. It's not easy/straight-forward to put an emulator in another region setting. As the Mono for Android add-in launches the emulator it would be a nice feature in the VS.NET Tools/Options to specify a country setting and then the VS.NET debugger can set the locale for us based on the setting.

Thank you.

Do you know of any documentation that details what needs to be done for this? Is it an argument you pass to emulator.exe?

I asked the question on the MonoDroid list and here was the response, you can also google the persist.sys.language to find more examples:
~~~~
It is possible to change settings though the android debugger shell i.e:
adb shell 'setprop persist.sys.language en; setprop persist.sys.country GB; stop; sleep 5; start'
would change the locale to en_GB. You can also pass system properties when starting the emulator:
emulator -avd MonoDroid -prop persist.sys.language=en -prop persist.sys.country=GB
Thanks, that gives us some direction to go on!
Rather than try to support tons of arbitrary emulator launch options, we now do like Eclipse and provide space to add custom parameters to the emulator launcher.
Tools->Options->Mono for Android
