this resolved bug and you do not yet see a matching new report.
The addin does not provide --sdkroot when calling mmp. Without this value mmp will, by default, look at "well known" locations* for Xcode.
However it you want to use a Xcode from a custom location, like a .dmg (useful to test beta/preview releases of Xcode), then it won't be picked up. Also if your lone Xcode installation is not in the above directories then the build will fail.
To solve this (for MT) MonoDevelop allows customers to set a specific location for "Apple SDK" (MonoTouch's mtouch uses this). This same value should be used by the XamMac addin (copy/paste code from MT addin).
