Source file that does not compile
The source file attached to this bug does not compile. The output is:
$ dmcs test2.cs
test2.cs(15,22): error CS1061: Type `System.Collections.Generic.LinkedList<int>' does not contain a definition for `Add' and no extension method `Add' of type `System.Collections.Generic.LinkedList<int>' could be found (are you missing a using directive or an assembly reference?)
/Library/Frameworks/Mono.framework/Versions/2.10.9/lib/mono/gac/System/220.127.116.11__b77a5c561934e089/System.dll (Location of the symbol related to previous error)
Compilation failed: 1 error(s), 0 warnings
I believe it should compile, because LinkedList does have an Add method - (as demonstrated by commenting out the last line of code, compiling, and running the example).
This is because LinkedList implements the interface explicitly. See feature called explicit interface implementation.
