It is possible to add to the selector cache with MonoTouch.ObjCRuntime.Runtime.ConnectMethod (MethodInfo, Selector) - I believe this will accomplish what you're trying to do.
This resolves the issue if code written in the app. I develop the objective-c library and do not control how the app is written by the developers/customers who write applications using monotouch SDK.
You could provide the managed bindings for your ObjectiveC library which would handle this by calling Runtime.ConnectMethod at the appropriate times. There is no way this can be solved entirely in ObjectiveC anyway, since MonoTouch does not provide a native API you can use to solve this.
