Mono MCS rejects pointer generic types in code not marked as unsafe, which MS CSC accepts.

With "D:\Applications\Mono-2.11.4\bin" and "C:\Windows\Microsoft.NET\Framework\v4.0.30319" in the path on my Windows 7 machine:

===== UnsafePointers.cs =====
using System;

public class Something<T> {}

public class UnsafePointers {
    public void Test(Something<int*[]> param) {}
    public static void Main(String[] args) {}
}
===== end =====

This looks like another case of MS CSC being incorrect and mono MCS being correct. Still, if compatibility with CSC is a goal this may be worth looking at.

$ csc UnsafePointers.cs
Microsoft (R) Visual C# Compiler version 4.0.30319.17929
for Microsoft (R) .NET Framework 4.5
Copyright (C) Microsoft Corporation. All rights reserved.

$ mcs UnsafePointers.cs
UnsafePointers.cs(6,32): error CS0214: Pointers and fixed size buffers may only be used in an unsafe context
Compilation failed: 1 error(s), 0 warnings
