Hello

Currently Mono itself and lots of other packages installed to /usr/lib but this is usually used for platform-dependent libraries. I've seen https://bugzilla.xamarin.com/show_bug.cgi?id=3650 and reviewed http://www.gnu.org/software/autoconf/manual/autoconf.html#Installation-Directory-Variables .
I'd like you to consider ${datadir} as a more suitable place for GAC and other assemblies.

P.S. Reason for this suggestion is to get better fit into distributives with multlib where /usr/lib is symlink either to /usr/lib64 or to /usr/lib32. One of such distributive I'm user of is Exherbo. See mail-list thread http://lists.exherbo.org/pipermail/exherbo-dev/2012-November/001179.html for upcoming discussions.

Thank you

This is probably better suited to the mono-devel mailing list than a bug report.
