RESOLVED DUPLICATE of bug 7837

Description Jeremy Kolb 2012-11-02 10:22:28 UTC
After upgrading from 4.2.7 to 4.2.8 my application fails to deploy with INSTALL_PARSE_FAILED_MANIFEST_MALFORMED. Verbose output shows:

3>  Aapt Task (TaskId:258)
3>    AndroidSdkDirectory: C:\Users\jkolb\AppData\Local\Android\android-sdk\ (TaskId:258)
3>    AssetDirectory: obj\Debug\assets\ (TaskId:258)
3>    ManifestFile: obj\Debug\android\AndroidManifest.xml (TaskId:258)
3>    ResourceDirectory: obj\Debug\res\ (TaskId:258)
3>    JavaDesignerOutputDirectory: C:\Users\jkolb\AppData\Local\Temp\uvt43pxp.han (TaskId:258)
3>    PackageName: MinefieldManagement.MinefieldManagement (TaskId:258)
3>    UncompressedFileExtensions:  (TaskId:258)
3>    ExtraPackages:  (TaskId:258)
3>    AdditionalResourceDirectories:  (TaskId:258)
3>    LibraryProjectJarsWildcard:  (TaskId:258)
3>    ExtraArgs:  (TaskId:258)
3>  C:\Users\jkolb\AppData\Local\Android\android-sdk\platform-tools\aapt.exe package -f -m -M obj\Debug\android\AndroidManifest.xml -J C:\Users\jkolb\AppData\Local\Temp\uvt43pxp.han --custom-package minefieldmanagement.minefieldmanagement -F obj\Debug\android\bin\packaged_resources.bk -S obj\Debug\res -I C:\Users\jkolb\AppData\Local\Android\android-sdk\platforms\android-16\android.jar --auto-add-overlay --debug-mode  (TaskId:258)
3>AAPT : warning : AndroidManifest.xml already defines debuggable (in http://schemas.android.com/apk/res/android); using existing value in manifest.
3>  obj\Debug\android\AndroidManifest.xml:14: Tag <provider> missing required attribute authorities. (TaskId:258)
3>Done executing task "Aapt". (TaskId:258)

My content provider is annotated as the following:
    [ContentProvider(new string[] { "com.ara.MinefieldManagement.provider" }, Exported = false)]
    public class MinefieldDataProvider : ContentProvider
    {
        ......
    }

And the generated AndroidManifest.xml shows:

<provider android:exported="false" android:name="minefieldmanagement.provider.MinefieldDataProvider" />

It looks like it's not processing the authorities correctly.

I just downgraded back to 4.2.7 and now see the following correct text in my AndroidManifest.xml:

<provider android:authorities="com.ara.MinefieldManagement.provider" android:exported="false" android:name="minefieldmanagement.provider.MinefieldDataProvider" />
