I have use MonoDevelop with Unity
Seem like formatter just use default code format. Even I have set spacing and other format option, all useless, It just do thing like a default one
And I don't know why you using useless format for spacing like spacing before parentheses of function call. That's the most useless spacing I have ever seen. Why you make it default? Did you know that there are many function we use inline like Math.Sin or something like that. It make my code look like garbage immediately
Formatting "policy" settings are stored in the solution. When creating a new solution or opening a solution that does not have formatting settings, the user's policy preferences are copied into the solution, but changing user policy preferences does not change the policy of existing solutions. If you want, you can define custom policy sets and apply them to existing solutions.
This is done so that if multiple people work on the same solution, they have the same formatting settings and other such policies.
It's a feature :/ - it's the policy system (as michael pointed out). It's for making collaboration work possible.
But I agree that we should find a better user interface to communicate that to our users.
We're working on it.
Nope, It's a bug. I mean it is the same solution. I just setting formatter and press OK then Edit->Format my code. It just format my code like default one, not my format I have just set
I'm not sure it because sync with unity have something relate or not but it's surely a bug. And lack of feature to override default and need to re-set every new solution is not a feature
You've to set just the right options - changing the formatting options on the project level has an immediate effect.
