RESOLVED FIXED

Description Peter Collins 2012-08-13 17:21:11 UTC
I have attempted to license MFA twice on win8x32 and win8x64bit VMs through the MD activation prompt. In both of these instances, the activation for MFA failed. The same key however was able to activate MFA when downloading the full version of MFA online. I was only able to reproduce this on the current alphas (MD 3.0.4.3 and MFA 4.2.5). When activating through the current stables (MD 3.0.3.5 and MFA 4.2.4) activation succeeds with no issue.

Another point to note is that on two different occasions reproducing this issue, the license file does get generated even though the activation prompt says that the activation fails. When this occurs, closing MD and reopening it will cause MD to recognize registration.

Duncan has suggested that a race condition may be occurring here, as the license file is not always generated, and even when the license file is generated, the activation prompt always says that it failed to activate.

Expected Behavior:
After inputting all required information into MonoDevelop, Activation will succeed.

Actual Behavior:
After inputting all required information to activate MFA through MD, an error is thrown "Activation failed: Please check your activation code."

Environment Details:
Win8 32 and 64bit VMs running on OSX 10.7.4 Lion through VMWare
MD 3.0.4.3
MFA 4.2.5

Comment 1 Peter Collins 2012-08-16 17:14:49 UTC
Reproduced on a physical machine using the lastest wrench build of MD, 3.0.4.4

Attempted to repro once, I received a message that activation failed. However, the license file was generated even though it displayed a failure message, and after restarting MonoDevelop it recognized that MFA had been activated.

Environment Details:
win7x64 physical machine
MD 3.0.4.4
MFA 4.2.5.166487751

Fixed in master, need to backport and verify.

Backported to 3.0.4, not tested in a build from that branch, needs verification.
