Please update the Xamarin site to allow download of the most recent version of the standalone MSI for Xamarin.VisualStudio. The current download suggests using an out of date MSI when it fails (Xamarin.VisualStudio_184.108.40.2066.msi):
Alternatively, please provide a public mapping of the public Xamarin version number to the corresponding MSI file name so we know what to download. Submitted in relation to:
where a comment states:
"The cause of this issue is in brief related to the change in the package numbering in Visual Studio 2015 Tools for Xamarin version 4.8.0. The installer package .msi now ends with a longer number than before (like "220.127.116.116386" rather than "18.104.22.1682"). For the moment, the updater service has been adjusted server-side so that this problem is temporarily resolved for the specific current build version."
Because of the comment I know I can download 22.214.171.1242 from here:
But I don't know where to find the most recent version (126.96.36.1997) or subsequent versions. We use the standalone installer for our build server so we only have to install Visual Studio Build Tools instead of a full Visual Studio instance.
I'm in the same situation -- it appears that we now need a full VS2017 installation on our build server simply because we do not have a link to the standalone tools installation. It would be nice to avoid the extra license.
If there is no plan to take action on this soon, can you please at least post the URLs to the Xamarin.VisualStudio MSIs on this ticket in the interim?
Let me know if I need to create an issue on GitHub somewhere for this instead. I couldn't find a repo for the Xamarin installer.

### Earlier versions
For earlier versions than these, the best option is to create a support incident to request the version you need ("Technical Support > Product: Xamarin platform > Assisted Support" on https://www.visualstudio.com/vs/support/).
### Future updates for Visual Studio 2015 Tools for Xamarin
Note that the Visual Studio Tools for Xamarin versions aligned with Visual Studio 2017 version 15.7 and higher are now only available in Visual Studio 2017 (https://releases.xamarin.com/release-15-7/).
Please do submit any recommendations for improvements in the Visual Studio 2017 Tools for Xamarin build server experience on Developer Community (via Report a Problem in the IDE ) to engage with the team. Thanks in advance!
