Errors

Hi,

I'm getting below error when I try to run project containing iOS framework with nib files.

/Users/rajvinder.singh/Projects/PlugNPlaySampleApp/PlugNPlaySampleApp/MTOUCH: Error: /Users/rajvinder.singh/Projects/PlugNPlaySampleApp/PlugNPlaySampleApp/obj/iPhone/Debug/device-builds/iphone7.1-9.3.3/mtouch-cache/PlugNPlay.framework/Plug-N-Play.storyboardc/yZy-XU-E8K-view-Pvt-x4-b3O.nib exists but is not directory (PlugNPlaySampleApp) checkdir

what should I do to resolve this?
Comment 1 Vincent Dondain [MSFT] 2017-11-29 22:40:45 UTC
Please include your full build logs, crash reports (if any), test case (to reproduce) and all your version information.

To get full build logs just set the log verbosity to diagnostic at the following locations:
- On Visual Studio for Mac: Preferences > Projects > Build
- On Visual Studio for Windows: Tools > Options > Projects and Solutions > Build and Run

On Visual Studio Windows you also want to add `-v -v -v -v` to the mtouch additional arguments by right-clicking the project in the solution explorer and selecting `Properties`.
Note: this is done automatically on Visual Studio for Mac when the log verbosity is set to diagnostic.

The easiest way to get exact version information:
- On Visual Studio for Mac: "Visual Studio" menu, "About Visual Studio" item, "Show Details" button.
- On Visual Studio for Windows: "Help menu", "About Microsoft Visual Studio" item.
Then copy/paste the version information (you can use the "Copy Information" button).

Hi,

We will need a bit more information in order to help you which was the point of https://bugzilla.xamarin.com/show_bug.cgi?id=60906#c1 (:

A test case (either your original app or a new one, trimmed down, showing only the issue) is always the best thing if you want us to identify the problem quickly. We can see the error locally and help troubleshoot the issue.
I can make this bug private so only Microsoft employees can see it if you want.

I'm having a hard time understand the structure of your app and which nibs are causing the error.

Otherwise, at minimum, we need your full build logs and version informations (I provided instructions on how to get those).

@Rajvinder we have taken a look at you project and we have a different error:

It is interesting because is a different error. We have a theory that the binding project does not lie to have more than one framework. Could you please try and split the binding project in one per framework?
Comment 9 Rajvinder Singh 2018-01-17 06:29:42 UTC
@Manuel, I'll try to get back to you in 2-3 Days with separate binding libraries.

@Rajvinder thanks. I will keep an eye to test as soon as you provide the sample.

@Manuel, I tried creating separate Binding Library but still there are errors.

Comment 15 Manuel de la Peña [MSFT] 2018-02-16 12:33:40 UTC
@Rajvinder I have had the following issues trying to build the application:

https://gist.github.com/mandel-macaque/c4b31657fef608b1f92009128a3ff96e

Which shows the exact same issue. Setting the issue as confirmed. and reproducible with the following enviroment:

https://gist.github.com/mandel-macaque/93f1eba0f36c20242a8b794549a3f629
Comment 16 Manuel de la Peña [MSFT] 2018-02-16 12:38:31 UTC
To add some extra information, the following are the contents of the project bin and obj:

https://gist.github.com/mandel-macaque/3cd759ee921bbafb9e7d780a547159b8

As it can be seen, the error:

bin/iPhone/Debug/device-builds/ipad5.3-11.2/TestApp.app/Main.storyboardc/BYZ-38-t0r-view-8bC-Xf-vdC.nib" does not exist.

yet we have the file in several of the intermediate step directories.
Comment 17 Manuel de la Peña [MSFT] 2018-02-16 12:45:56 UTC
@Rajvinder there are other issues not related with the .nib files fur with the binding projects:

https://gist.github.com/mandel-macaque/c4b31657fef608b1f92009128a3ff96e#file-build-log-L11130

can you please recheck the binding?
Comment 18 Manuel de la Peña [MSFT] 2018-02-19 11:35:55 UTC
Hello,

After another look at the bindings I have noticed that the bindings generated is smaller than the framework. This made me look closer tat you binding project and you certainly have an issue with it.

If you take a look you are using path <NativeReference Include="..\..\..\Documents\GitHubCodes\Public\PayUMoney-IOS-SDK\CoreSDK\PayUMoneyCoreSDK.framework"> which means that it will never find the framework (take a look at the structure of the .zip file you attached).

This means that the issue is not with the .nib file but with the fact that no framework was found during the build process because it is looking in the wrong path. Please fix the project to use the correct path and your issues should be fixed.
Comment 19 Rajvinder Singh 2018-02-21 05:30:30 UTC
Hey,

The path is not relative to zip file because I just pasted the Projects in folder and sent that to you. The path is correct in my local. The problem only exists if I use "PayUMoneyPNPXamarinPlugin", there is no problem if other plugins are used. You can create libraries with the framework I have attached and add the path relative to your location. The problem will still exist.
Comment 20 AJ 2018-02-21 07:14:13 UTC
Hi Manuel,

I'm Rajvinder's colleague and working with him on providing this plugin to our merchants. Thank you for helping us with this issue. It has proved to be quite vexing and challenging.

Is there any way to get help with this issue faster? We've been, unfortunately, stuck with this issue for several months now. Any way we can get your help faster?

Regards
Anant
Comment 21 Sebastien Pouliot 2018-02-21 15:53:46 UTC
#Rajvinder, @AJ please help us helping you.

Attach a self-contained that directly shows the issue so there's nothing else that can be confusing about the issue. We'll have a look when we have this. Right now what we have seen does not point in a bug in Xamarin.iOS (and bugzilla is not a support channel). Thanks.

@Sebastien/Manuel,

I have now added reference from the same folder. Here is the updated link:

The project attached fails in stable yet works without issue in the following environment (master) will test the sample in the beta channel to confirm it fixed there and will update the bug accordingly.

@Manuel,

I switched the channel to Beta and installed all the updates in it (including Mono 5.8.0.127).

Still the test app is not running on Device/Simulator. Although, I'm not seeing the errors now but the end result is still the same.

as soon as PayUMoneyPNPXamarinPlugin is removed, the project works fine (earlier in stable as well as in beta). Only thing different in this plugin from other plugins is that this plugin uses StoryBoard for UI thats why there are errors related to nib files.

@Rajvinder then the issue is a different one. You were posting that during compilation you were getting errors like:

/Users/rajvinder.singh/Projects/PlugNPlaySampleApp/PlugNPlaySampleApp/obj/iPhone/Debug/device-builds/iphone7.1-9.3.3/mtouch-cache/PlugNPlay.framework/Plug-N-Play.storyboardc/PnPAddCardViewController.nib exists but is not directory
MTOUCH : error MT1303: Could not decompress the native framework

which does not longer happen because the application compiles and runs (I have tested it) in the simulator and device launching a white screen. I do not know what the application is suppose to do, but what I do know is that the MT1303 errors do not occur which is what you initially reported.

I'll take a second look but the bug title should be fixed.

@manuel, I am not able to download the test case from https://bugzilla.xamarin.com/show_bug.cgi?id=60906#c22. I believe you already got it.

You marked the bug as reopened could you mark it as confirmed if you were able to duplicate it?

Thanks for your efforts, original bug is resolved and I'm also able to run the app on device. I'm marking this bug as Fixed..
