IUIViewControllerTransitionCoordinator properties

The transition from portrait/landscape and landscape/portrait is not animated anymore.
This used to work on simulator and device but now only works on simulator.
I've set a breakpoint in the ViewWillTransitionToSize and on the IUIViewControllerTransitionCoordinator properties I get:
device: IsAnimated=false and TransitionDuration=0
simulator: IsAnimated=true ,TransitionDuration = 0.4/0.8
I could reproduce this with a blank UISplitViewController(overriden just to have acces to ViewWillTransitionToSize) that has set as ViewControllers 2 UINavigationController each having a UIViewController;
in the FinishedLaunching I added the splitviewcontroller as Window.RootViewController;
in the splitviewcontrollers ViewWillTransitionToSize method I get iPadEmptyControlls.png.
