I had Xamarin 184.108.40.2063 and updated it to 220.127.116.11. Now, double-clicking on an xaml file causes 'catastrophic failure (exception from HRESULT...E_UNEXPECTED...'. I have rebooted since the update. The VS2015 Forms solution was fine before the update. I can rt-click the file and open it with the default editor ok. After that, I can double-click xaml files and they open ok. All is well until I close all the xaml files, close the solution, then open the solution. Please fix this.
problem is related to the 'editor extension' used by Visual Studio to edit the file. It does happen on VS2015/2017 on windows 7 or windows 10 machines.
It does prevent to edit xaml files with proper support.
I am able to reproduce this only on VS2015. If you are also seeing this on VS2017 can you share a sample project so we can take a look?
### Steps to Reproduce
1. In VS2015, create a new MasterDetail Xamarin.Forms project
2. Open one of the XAML pages in the "Views" folder
### Expected Results
The file is opened
### Actual Results
Error window appears with
> Catastrophic failure (Exception from HRESULT: 0x8000FFFF) (E_UNEXPECTED))
Right click the file and select "Open With.." > "Automatic Editor Selector (XML)"
