I did not test if this is valid for all settings but I think so!
If you change e.g. the naming-convention and then hit okay it will stay as an error in in the text-editor (or warning or whatever, in general the settings won't be applied)
But if you change them in the [PROJECT]-Option it will be applied.

So, I guess the source analysis should refresh after changing solution-level policies?
