I am trying to use WCF services in order to be able to reuse classes (and methods) on the client(s). If I add the services via the right click menu in Mono it works but I have to do this in each client (iphone and android). I am planning on having a shared project between these two clients (all in C#) where the shared logic will be stored. The idea is that the clients will be "dumb" and they will both be driven by a platform agnostic library that simply tells them to show a view and will provide the data without the client needing to know how to get the data. I want the shared library to consume my web services....
now that i've said all that......... When I try and add the services through MonoDevelop then it tells me that it couldn't find some of my types and they should be imported first.... how does one go about importing these types?
I ended up generating my client classes using svcutil on windows and when I use them in mono they work but an exception gets called when trying to access the channel and is tells me that it isn't supported in monoTouch. First off... my project isn't a monoTouch project.... so I don't understand why this is being thrown! It is just a class library that will be consumed by the clients.
The exception that is thrown is "MonoTouch does not support dynamic proxy code generation. Override this method or its caller to return specific client proxy instance". I want to make this run even if it isn't "recommended" per say. I was wondering exactly what to override in order to get this to work? I can settle for consuming the webservices in each client but that isn't my ideal approach. I was just wondering if you guys could give me some insight on how I might be able to get this to work without consuming the services in each client but in my shared client library...
