Description Jon Douglas [MSFT] 2017-06-19 20:27:03 UTC
*Description:

Currently there is no suggested intellisense within the "Source" view of the Android Designer. This tends to stop developers in their tracks when coding a layout from scratch.

For example if you created a blank <LinearLayout></LinearLayout> element, you might see the following from Android Studio:

Element LinearLayout doesn't have required attribute layout_height
Element LinearLayout doesn't have required attribute layout_width

Android Studio:

However we don't get that experience in Visual Studio

Visual Studio:

In this case Android Studio suggests the minimal required attributes of layout_height / layout_width. It will help you insert these values until the View/ViewGroup is minimally satisfied.

If Android Studio adds these attributes but does not add the namespace, it will then let you know that you are also missing the namespace and provide a solution to add it into your XML.

This whole process helps developers get to a minimal compiling layout without building their project.
