Description Hrvoje 2017-05-17 07:45:05 UTC
If I try to make distribution of an app using Archive Manager, and select Google Play distribution (release), an error occures stating:

An error occur uploading 'orderion.app.apk': Version 5 of this app can not be downloadeded by any devices as they will all receive APKs with higher version codes. (403)

My current app update is version 6.

Than I tried to prepare production using Google Developer console, and then publish using Archive Manager, but the same error persist.

The only way to publish new version of the app is to create production release manually, then make Add-Hoc distribution using Archive Manager, and manually upload APK using Google Developer Console and finish the publish process.

I believe there is an extra step needed for Archive Manager to perform before publishing new version of the app and that is to deactivate version 5 APK.

What was the version you were trying to upload? 5 or 6? It also depends on what track you were uploading to as well.

I was trying to upload version 6 into production.
Version 5 is beta build. Is that the cause of the problem?
Should I deactivate build release before uploading version 6?

Correction:

Should I deactivate beta build before uploading version 6?

I believe so. The Play Store is basically trying to tell you that if you upload this new version, version will not be accessible to anyone. I think if you uploaded v6 to alpha you could promote it to production and (maybe) the dashboard would offer to deactivate v5 (to be honest, I can't recall exactly how the dashboard handles this case).

The publish workflow in XS / VS for Mac isn't meant to replace the Play Store dashboard.

Did you resolve your problem by deactivating version 5?
