RESOLVED NORESPONSE

Description Clayton 2017-05-11 07:11:12 UTC
I downloaded the latest stable build of MonoFramework 5 through Xamarin Studio Updates on my hosting Mac.
Downloaded the latest stable build of Xamarin.iOS 10.10.0.33 on my hosting Mac.
Downloaded the latest update to Visual Studio 2017 Community Edition.

Then I built and deployed to my iPhone 6s.
It shows the launch screen and then the app closes.
It was working perfectly before I updated.
I made no changes to my code.

In the Output Console I receive the below in the order it is presented:
Launching 'MyAppNameHere' on 'Clayton's 6S'...
The app has been terminated.
Launch succeeded. The app 'MyAppNameHere' has been successfully launched on 'Clayton's 6S'.

I am able to run the same code on the Simulator for iPhone 6s 10.3 with no problem.

Please help. Thanks.

Please include your full build logs, crash reports (if any), device logs, test case (to reproduce) and all version informations.

The easiest way to get exact version information is to use the "Xamarin Studio" menu, "About Xamarin Studio" item, "Show Details" button and copy/paste the version informations (you can use the "Copy Information" button).

We are also getting this issue after updating. You can reproduce it by cloning into our repository and running one of our sample applications on a physical iOS device.

1. Clone https://github.com/Microsoft/mobile-center-sdk-dotnet
2. Open solution "MobileCenter-Mac.sln"
3. Run ./build.sh on command line
4. Run application Contoso.Forms.Puppet.iOS on a physical device
5. Observe exception

@alchocro I can reproduce your issue but I'm not sure it's identical to the original bug report from @Clayton

@alchocro Can you please open a different bug report for your issue ?

If it turns out they are identical I'll merge them.
Comment 4 Sebastien Pouliot 2017-05-11 22:08:20 UTC
@Clayton if this only happens in Debug (not Release) and you're using binding projects then it might be the same issue as @alchocro hit.

In that case you can try this (as a workaround)

1. Change your bindings project(s) Compiler options and turn on *Enable optimizations*;
2. Rebuild the bindings and the app
Comment 5 Clayton 2017-05-15 10:35:58 UTC
@Sebastien Pouliet,
Sorry for the late response.
I just managed to get it to work on Release build.

I compared and ran it on Debug using some of the settings from Release, but I still couldn't get it to run on Debug.

That said, I'm not sure what you mean when you say binding project.
It's a fairly simple app at this point, it doesn't use any custom iOS binding projects as far as I know...
Comment 6 Sebastien Pouliot 2017-05-15 13:10:17 UTC
@Clayton it's possible that comment #4 does not apply (it's a workaround for another issue, and I was not sure if yours was a duplicate or not).

Right now I do not have enough information to see if this is a new/different issue from others we're aware of. Can you provide all the information requested in comment #1 or can you share your project with us ? Thanks!

I am experiencing the exact same issue as @Clayton is describing.
This also happened for me after a recent update.

> If you need any more info from me, just let me know.

@Ulrich there are multiple causes that can lead to the current bug description*. Please file a separate bug report including the version information (like above) but also the additional information requested in comment #1. Thanks!

> Please include your full build logs, crash reports (if any), device logs,
> test case (to reproduce) and all version informations

* it's easier to merge duplicates than split different issues. When the latter occurs it's risky that a bug will be closed without solving all the issues (and we won't have the details to confirm that).
Comment 9 Sebastien Pouliot 2017-05-17 19:46:40 UTC
There is a PR [1] that fix the issue from comment #2. The original and comment #7 remains without a test case to confirm if the issue is identical so the bug remains NEEDINFO

Changing milestone since we can't track this down without the requested information.
Comment 11 Timothy Risi 2017-07-03 18:03:54 UTC
We have not received the requested information. If you are still experiencing this issue please provide all the requested information and re-open the bug report. Thanks!
