Description Joseph Hanna 2012-06-10 22:41:11 UTC
Since installing MD 3.0.3.1 (alpha), debugging on an iPad device has been troublesome. Despite an iPad 2 being connected via the USB and with debugging configured to work over Wi-Fi, it frequently connects to other iOS devices found on the Wi-Fi network.

If I unplug the iPad from the USB and reconnect it, then restart the debugger, it connects to the correct device. I am having to do this every second or third time I attempt to debug my application on the device.

Here is the output from the "Deploy to Device" window:-
-------------------------------------------------------
(it should be connecting to "Joseph's iPad 2" not the iPhone)

/Developer/MonoTouch/usr/bin/mtouch -sdkroot "/Applications/Xcode.app/Contents/Developer" -installdev "/Users/joe/Projects/Mono/ACR/SalesTALK/SalesTALK/SalesTALK/bin/iPhone/Debug/ACRSalesTALK.app"
Please ensure your device is connected...
Connected to: Joseph’s iPhone 4S
Initializing file service...
Installation failed: AMDeviceStartService returned: 0x0 (kAMDSuccess)
error MT1006: Could not install the application '/Users/joe/Projects/Mono/ACR/SalesTALK/SalesTALK/SalesTALK/bin/iPhone/Debug/ACRSalesTALK.app' on the device '': AMDeviceStartService returned: 0x0 (kAMDSuccess).
The application was terminated by a signal: SIGHUP

Rolf: can you look into this?

Joseph:

Can you try to execute the following from a terminal several times and check if the device it connects to changes? Do you get the same results if you run it after it has connected to the wrong device from MonoDevelop?

/Developer/MonoTouch/usr/bin/mtouch -sdkroot
"/Applications/Xcode.app/Contents/Developer" -installdev
"/Users/joe/Projects/Mono/ACR/SalesTALK/SalesTALK/SalesTALK/bin/iPhone/Debug/ACRSalesTALK.app"

I have not seen this happen again. I am happy to close this bug.
