C# project that demonstrates the problem
If a ComboBox has a SelectedIndex, and an item before that index gets removed, the selected index doesn't get updated. .NET will decrement the index to compensate.
The enclosed project demonstrates the problem. It also shows that, if the last item in a combo box is selected, and a prior item gets deleted, and the combo box gets shown, mono-winforms throws an exception.

Patch to fix problem
This is my proposed patch, so that no exception is thrown and mono-winforms mimics .NET functionality. The patch is under review on the mono-devel mailing list.
The patch has been pushed (commit ecd410269466799c8bde71fc55ea9bf2a052c364). Thanks.
