Reproduction example

I notice one more wrong behavior when Master Page is rendered.

This bug is similar to
https://bugzilla.xamarin.com/show_bug.cgi?id=42055

but it is shown on Master page of MasterDetail in certain use case.

1. The problem
It looks like lover part of Master page is cut off, but actually is hidden by software navigation bar.

2. How it happens
App Start->Set some page as MainPage -> Set MasterDetailPage MainPage

3. Real use case scenario
Majority of my apps relies on my common framework that among other stuff, contains flow for registering instance of application in my system (OAuth Dynamic Client Registration). So when is installed and started for the first time, registration process follows and at the end app waits to be accepted by the back-end system. So we have something like this:

Welcome Page -> Some Setup Pages -> Last Page in Registration Process (here we wait for back-end confirmation).
So, WelcomePage is set as MainPage, and there is periodical checking of registration status.

As soon as client (instance of app on device) is accepted, it will be redirected to post registration page. This is different from app to app, it can be simple page, and also Master Detail page (this is true in most of cases). Here redirection means setting MainPage to MasterDetail page, and here I saw the problem on UWP.

4. Reproduction envrionment
Xamarin Forms: 2.3.4.214-pre5
OS: WindowsPhone 10.0.14393.953
Device: Microsoft RM-1104_15442

Thank you for the reproduction project. So you have only noticed this when explicitly setting the MDP such as in your use case?
Comment 2 Novak Savic 2017-03-27 14:14:27 UTC
Yes correct.

Please note that for reproduction solution I intentionally simplify example, so you only need to press the button on page that appears after app start, which will set MDP as MainPage after that. Than, just open Master page by clicking on MDP menu button, and you will notice the problem.

Looks like the master page has more text than will fin in the screen and so flows off screen under the software toolbar. To my eye this is expected. Could you please include a screen shot of the unexpected artifact?

I do not agree.

This problem only occurs when setting MDP after app start. When the same MDP is set during app startup, all looks good.

You can also run the same example on on iOS and Android, you will notice the problem.

You can even reduce the text of that last label as many as you like, even up to couple of letters, than you will not even see the label, because its under navigation bar.

Should be fixed on 2.3.6-pre1
