Description Rodrigo Kumpera 2017-03-06 21:03:04 UTC
Enabling it in debug builds doesn't work. I always get the serial GC.

It works fine in Release builds.

I believe that this was fixed by: https://github.com/xamarin/monodroid/pull/581

Hi Rodrigo ,

It would be great if you can provide me steps or screencast link to validate this bug. I am also unable to access the link : https://github.com/xamarin/monodroid/pull/581 as well.

Hey Vlad,

Can you help Neeraj here?
Comment 4 Vlad Brezae 2017-03-17 21:30:06 UTC
Hi Neeraj,

Long story short, enabling "use the concurrent garbage collector" property in android project options -> Android build should translate to the app having MONO_GC_PARAMS=major=marksweep-conc set at runtime. You can check this at runtime by adding to a sample android project : System.Environment.GetEnvironmentVariable("MONO_GC_PARAMS").Contains("major=marksweep-conc"); (it is true if it's passed and false or NullReferenceException if not passed).

As it was mentioned above this was reproducible only with debug builds. I think the latest Xamarin.Android build (from alpha) should have the fix and any build older than one week should be buggy.
