RESOLVED FIXED

Description Al Clark [MSFT] 2017-02-23 18:32:35 UTC
## Overview

Adding references to Xamarin.Android native project breaks references when VS 2015 is restarted.

## Steps to replicate

1. File > New > Project... > Android > Blank App (Android)
2. Right-click project and go to Manage NuGet Packages
3. Add packages (I used Xamarin.Android.Support.v4 among others)
4. Save if necessary and close Visual Studio
5. Re-open Visual Studio and project

## Expected results

References should stay intact.

## Actual results

References appear to be broken. Removing one of the broken references appears to fix the rest.

This happens even on new project with only Xamarin.Android.Support.V4 package added from nuget (with it's dependencies). Interesting behavior is that after force-uninstall one of the references they seems to fix, but after VS restart without installing previously removed package, remaining references are once again broken. This behavior is the same for all broken packages with one exception - Xamarin.Build.Download. After uninstalling that one and restarting VS all references are OK.

The references are broken only when version 0.4.2 of Xamarin.Build.Download is used. Downgrading to 0.4.1 (and Support packages to 24.x.x - automatically) fixes problem.

We are working on several fixes with Xamarin Build Download. Please update Xamarin Build Download NuGet to the 0.4.3-beta6 version. We expect to release soon. If you see 0.4.3 (or higher) by the time you read this, please update to that.

Let us know how this version works for you.
Comment 6 Bill Holmes 2017-03-29 17:23:25 UTC
Please update Xamarin Build Download to 0.4.3. Version 0.4.3 will fix this defect.
