RESOLVED FIXED

Description Brian Berry 2017-01-12 15:22:25 UTC
Found: Seemingly unnecessary Resource.Designer.cs generation differences between toolchains on macOS vs. Windows that result in version control thrash with the generated files. Diffs (on a Mac against artifacts committed on Windows) of the form:

 #pragma warning disable 1591
-//------------------------------------------------------------------------------
-// <auto-generated>
-// This code was generated by a tool.
-//     Runtime Version:4.0.30319.42000

-//     the code is regenerated.

-[assembly: global::Android.Runtime.ResourceDesignerAttribute("FOO.Resource", IsApplication=false)]
+[assembly: Android.Runtime.ResourceDesignerAttribute("FOO.Resource", IsApplication=false)]

Differences include:
  * <autogenerated> vs <auto-generated>
  * "Mono Runtime" vs "Runtime"
  * Additional whitespace in the blank line between "Mono Runtime" and "Changes to" lines.
  * Additional whitespace at the EOL of the "...and will be lost if".
  * Loss of global:: scoping in the assembly-scoped attribute.

Basically, this affects workflow by adding some process drag to cull unnecessary change
where we want to keep the repository history clean as we work between platforms.

Many thanks!

Missed one diff:
   * "Mono Runtime Version: XXX" vs. "Runtime Version:XXX" has a
     spacing difference after the colon, currently.
