Description PJ 2012-05-09 20:47:30 UTC
Visual Studio 2010
MFA 4.2 RC4

Steps to reproduce:

Add a button to a layout.
Double click the button to edit the text.
Click into the text box to focus the text box.
Press tab to open the resource-editing text box.
Press enter to apply the changes.

Expected result:
Button displays the resource name (@string/button) (bug 4987)
Text boxes clear

Actual result:
Button displays the resource name (@string/button)
Text boxes do not clear

Even if I delete the widget, the text boxes remain.

Workaround:
Reload the .axml file

Notes:
This issue does not occur if I press escape instead of enter.
This issue does not occur if I click away from the button instead of pressing enter.

Setting severity to critical because this will be a common user action day one, and the most intuitive way of accepting changes is pressing Enter. Additionally, without restarting you will encounter a number of other issues (most noticeably, you cannot double click on other buttons to edit the text). This means you must restart VS every time this issue occurs.

I can't reproduce. No matter what I do the edit boxes go away when I click anywhere in the designer. I'd need a sample project for this.

Although I can't reproduce, I committed a change that may fix the problem (dc3c9d4a7a0466c84373eee2e6537404ce4adb6c). Can you please verify?
Comment 3 PJ 2012-05-10 10:41:13 UTC
The behavior only manifests when pressing Enter after editing the string resource (not clicking or pressing esc)
Comment 4 PJ 2012-05-11 05:23:49 UTC
Verified fixed in MFA 4.2.0 RC5
