Description adrianknight89 2016-12-01 18:43:43 UTC
I test alpha channels and when I hit roadblocks, I need to go back to the stable channel, but this seems to re-download all executables in VS/XS from scratch. I have a poor Internet connection, and this makes switching back and forth a pain. Can you maybe cache old executables or ask the user if they want to cache them?

You could do something like this:

- Create a ListView of checkboxes where each check box represents a specific release
- When the Updater window pops up, it searches a directory to see if the checked items are still valid.
- Unchecking an item and saving clears out the part of the directory where the executables are stored
- Checking an item and hitting Download will start downloading if the files are not on the hard drive.

This is not the expected behaviour, the file must be download only one time.
We will investigate and fix it.

Hi Adrian,

Looking into this issue, we are not re-downloading all the files after a channel switch.
What I think you were facing is again some of the issues ported on Bug 54807 (https://bugzilla.xamarin.com/show_bug.cgi?id=54807), which is already fixed.

I'll mark the bug as resolved/fixed, but please, if you do still see this behavior after the fix is public, please feel free to reopen and we can follow up and investigate.

Thanks.
