this resolved bug and you do not yet see a matching new report.
When dragging a file from outside of MD into the MD solution pad, the tree should check that the drop is valid. Unfortunately OnDragMotion does not have the data. It'll have to call Gtk.Drag.GetData, then use DragDataReceived to perform the status check. This means DragDataReceived can't be used for the drop. So lots of restructuring needed.
