RESOLVED FIXED

Description Mikayla Hutchinson [MSFT] 2012-04-30 12:47:43 UTC
For MD 3.0, we need to bump the data directories from MonoDevelop-2.8 to MonoDevelop-3.0
Comment 1 Duncan Mak 2012-04-30 15:29:01 UTC
Moving this to 2.9.x to ease tracking.
Comment 2 Mikayla Hutchinson [MSFT] 2012-05-02 11:24:19 UTC
Fixed in master and 3.0 branch.
Comment 3 Alan McGovern 2012-05-02 14:26:30 UTC
This is going to break all documentation which uses the versioned directories to guide people to delete/rename/access files, such as the logs.

Could we create unversioned shortcuts/symlinks to the versioned directories to ease this? I assume most people might be smart enough to figure out that 2.8 might need to be changed to 3.0, but you never know.
Comment 4 Mikayla Hutchinson [MSFT] 2012-05-02 14:44:03 UTC
I don't think we can, since we don't know the "active" version. TBH I think symlinks like that would just be confusing. All the docs I wrote were deliberately version agnostic, do you know of any docs we should fix?

This was necessary because 3.0 completely changes the storage of autosave files and code completion data. So MD 2.8.x and 3.0 really cannot use the same data directories.
