The current code for GLib.ListBase ( https://gist.github.com/566f0cc9c8baf59e6327 ) and GLib.PtrArray appears to handle finalization incorrectly. While most Gtk objects add themselves to a finalization queue to be executed in the gtk main thread, these two classes directly process their destruction on the finalizer thread, including freeing their child elements.

Could this be the cause of this bug? This non-reproducable stacktrace from monodevelop makes it seem like gtk objects are been destroyed directly on the finalizer thread.

I don't see how those classes have anything to do with this trace? It looks like managed code called from some finalizer is calling Gtk.Widget.Destroy directly - but the finalizer could be on any class. Need to get method names for the managed frames.

Do you have any context for the trace?

I can only assume that i ran mono_pmip on stack frame 23->18 and found those classes in the stack trace.

Is my conclusion in comment 1 correct anyway? Regardless of whether or not they caused this particular issue, do we need the finalizers on these classes to proxy to the mainloop like everything else?

Not sure about the Free () or the GLib.Opaque.GetOpaque (NthData (i), element_type, true).Dispose () but the rest looks okay to me.

This bug has been in the NEEDINFO state with no changes for the last 90 days. Can we put this back into the NEW or CONFIRMED state, or are we still awaiting response?

If there is no change in the status of this bug over the next two weeks, this bug will be marked as NORESPONSE.
