The error when attempting to install on Lion (OSX)

When I attempt to install MonoDevelop it fails stating that there is versino already installed. I did have a version installed, but have removed it. I've also remove any folders that seem like they could be related from my Library folder in my account

Might be a permissions error on your system. Are you certain that /Applications/MonoDevelop.app does not exist? Can you try rebooting, and check again?
