If the user has an XI installed on the Mac that is incompatible with the XI running on the PC, XMA will not connect, yet the VS status bar still says "Successfully connected to the Mac!" - it's a very misleading user experience.

In the screenshot, you can see my mac has XI 9.10 and my PC had XI 10 which are incompatible with each other which is not supported, yet the status bar still reports a successful connection.

Repro is easy, just install an old XI on your mac.

I have checked this Issue with latest master build (XVS 99.1.0.397) and observing that VS getting connected successfully to mach build host, having incompatible XI 9.10.0.56. I have reported and Issue for the same: Bug 51006

However, With latest Cycle 9 build (XVS 4.3.0.508) I am getting proper error in output and status bar with incompatible XI 9.10.0.56. This is the screencast for the same: https://www.screencast.com/t/HBqkfnsf

I'll verify the Issue once Bug 51006 will be fixed.

I have checked this issue with latest Master Xamarin.VisualStudio_99.1.0.407_5920029f5b21f786a4a559e2681fea6f2ded40e6 and observed that now this issue is working fine. Now proper error is showing in Output pad while incompatible version of XI is installed on the Mac.
