XAML Previewer

Info on https://developer.xamarin.com/guides/xamarin-forms/xaml/xaml-previewer/ says that the XAML previewer for VS can now be previewed.

I updated Xamarin from the stable channel and updated the Xamarin.Forms Nuget package as per the instructions but I get nothing other than an empty previewer as shown in the attachment. I also tried the steps below:

Project should be built (compiled) before attempting to preview XAML files.
The Designer Agent must be set-up the first time you preview a XAML file - a progress indicator will appear in the Previewer, along with progress messages, until this is ready. (this did not happen)
Try closing and re-opening the XAML file.

Can you attach the logs from VS to help us diagnose the issue?

Could you point me to where the log is?

If you click Help there should be a menu item like 'Zip Xamarin Logs'. If VS has an active connection to the Mac when you do this we'll also get the corresponding logs from there, which may actually be needed too. Thanks!

Unfortunately I am told that I am not allowed to share log files. Is there anything specific that I should look for in the logs? Can you guide me through some steps that might reveal what the problem might be? (e.g. deleting some folders which might be corrupt so that when deleted, they will be recreated etc.)

Previewer seems to start after closing it and reopening. I just found out about it on https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E7p2p8PK55I. Nevertheless, it just shows "XFPageRendereView" for Android even though I rebuilt the application several times and tried it for different applications.

Assuming that I will get it working for Android, one other problem would be that I could not get it working without a connection to a MAC it seeems. Shouldn't I be able to use the previewer for Android without a MAC connection?

I have the same problem that I only can preview on iOS, Android just stays empty and shows XFPageRendereView

We cannot reproduce the error here, it may be specific to your project but unfortunately without the logs we can't diagnose it much further.

Regarding the requirement for a connection to the MAC, that sounds related to https://bugzilla.xamarin.com/show_bug.cgi?id=45142 and it being tracked for fixing by the time this feature becomes stable.

We've made a lot of changes between the original preview release and what we are now shipping in the Alpha channel. I would recommend trying the latest preview in Alpha and see if your issues have been resolved.

NOTE: We do require Xamarin Forms 2.3.2 or higher. One of our upcoming Alpha releases will have a proper warning message when an older version is detected.
