   Nothing happens.

**Expected Results:**

An Alert should appear indicating a successful tap.

This doesn't make any sense to me. Why are you trying to add a tap gesture to WebView? I expect WebView to handle all the tap gestures. On the google page, there are many buttons and links that WebView should handle.

This is needed for things such as placing an svg in a webview and using it as a button icon.

As Adrian points out, WebViews are their own things which handle their own gestures.

For something like this, I'd suggest writing a custom renderer for Button. Or, if that's not an option, put a transparent Layout over the WebView and add a TapGesture to that.
