Description Brendan Zagaeski (Xamarin Team, assistant) 2016-07-06 18:08:07 UTC
Follow-up to Bug 41963 on Windows: Setting the `IpaPackageDir` property to a custom value breaks the logic that automatically copies the `.ipa` file to Windows from the Mac

Either:

(a) This will need to be corrected as part of Bug 41963 for Cycle 7 – Service Release 1.

or

(b) The option of temporarily reverting the fix for Bug 35667 will need to be reconsidered to allow more time for thorough testing and implementation of the new workflows involving `IpaPackageDir`. (Option 1 from Bug 41963, Comment 12)

Thanks!

## Steps to replicate

1. Install Xamarin.iOS 9.8.2.10 (843a527) on the Mac.

2. Install XamarinVS 4.1.0.550 (84e8d93) on Windows.

3. Copy the following file from the Mac:

/Library/Frameworks/Xamarin.iOS.framework/Versions/Current/lib/msbuild/iOS/Xamarin.iOS.Common.targets

To overwrite the corresponding file on Windows:

C:\Program Files (x86)\MSBuild\Xamarin\iOS\Xamarin.iOS.Common.targets

(This step is necessary because XamarinVS 4.1.0.550 has not yet been bumped to pick up the most recent changes from Xamarin.iOS.)

4. Build a new template Single View iPhone app on the command line on Windows, using a command similar to the following:

msbuild /p:Configuration="Ad-Hoc" /p:Platform="iPhone" /p:ServerAddress="192.168.2.1" /p:ServerUser="macuser" /p:IpaPackageDir="C:\Builds" /t:Build UnifiedSingleViewIphone1.sln

## Results

The build process creates the expected output location `C:\Builds`, but it does not copy the `.ipa` file into that location:

> Directory of C:\Builds
>
> 07/06/2016 12:28 PM <DIR> .
> 07/06/2016 12:28 PM <DIR> ..
> 0 File(s) 0 bytes

Will probably also affect Bug 41158 currently fixed for C8...

I have checked this issue with XVS 4.1.2.2 commit : 51bb2ac90c754ed4fee9ce082fb0831a2727b994 and observed that this issue has been fixed as shown in screencast : http://screencast.com/t/AiMUaaN8

Thanks
