Description Anubhav Ranjan 2016-06-15 12:38:26 UTC
One of the customer is facing issues when opening the .axml files inside XS/VS in Windows.
The IDE crashes or get hung up and then crashes. This only happens with the older solutions and not with the new ones.

This is seen in both the Stable version as well as the Alpha Version.

#Description:
==========
Ever since I upgraded to XS 6.0 (5174), opening in my current project any
.axml file that triggers the GUI designer will crash the IDE with the
pop-up: Xamarin Studio has stopped working.

The same thing happens in Visual Studio, as soon as I open an .axml, it
crashes.

I started a new project and I can confirm that the .axml files open
normally there.

So the problem is somewhere in the project settings of my current project.

For a workaround, make sure that no local style name have the same name as a framework resource that's used as a parent.

For instance, in the project there is a resource declared as:

   <style name="Widget.TextView" parent="@android:style/Widget.TextView">

Notice how the name and last part of parent name are the same. Just changing the name to something else like MyWidget.TextView should workaround the issue.
