Description Joe Sauve 2016-06-03 00:10:24 UTC
Problem:
The installation of Android SDKs fails when performed during the Visual Studio install.
http://s33.postimg.org/xjkkhchnj/VS_install_fail.png

Hardware:
SurfaceBook Pro

OS:
Windows 10 Enterprise

Environment:
Freshly-installed Windows 10. No previous VS or Xamarin installation.

Installation medium:
en_visual_studio_enterprise_2015_with_update_2_x86_x64_dvd_8510142.iso

I've also seen this happen three separate times on Windows 10 installed on three separate virtual machines.

Possible cause:
The android SDK location not being set properly by the Visual Studio installer.

Workarounds:
Use the Xamarin universal installer.
OR
Set the ANDROID_SDK_HOME system variable in Windows to the sdk folder, restart, then use Modify feature of Visual Studio to re-try installation.

Please report this issue to the Visual Studio connect site at https://connect.microsoft.com, since it's external to Xamarin.

Thanks!
