Description Matthew Orlando 2016-04-21 16:47:52 UTC
Create a new project
Choose Visual F#/Android/Blank App (Android)

Expected result:

The project is created and loads

Actual result:

The solution explorer briefly shows the files in the project. It immediately unloads and the project says: "The project requires user input. Reload the project for more information."

I reload the project, and all it does is open the .fsproj file in the XML editor, and pop a dialog that says "the file blahblah.fsproj is already open. Do you want to close it?"

This is much worse than the previous release which would at least let you see the project until you add a layout: https://bugzilla.xamarin.com/show_bug.cgi?id=39695

I can't reproduce this with our latest Alpha bits using Visual Studio 2013.

Could you please provide the version information from Help > About in VS to determine the exact version where this might be happening?

Thanks!

This is very frustrating, as I'd really like to begin work on an F# project, but my primary dev machines are Windows. Are you suggesting that if I try with VS 2013 it might work?

The latest beta from May 18 is still having this issue for me.
Comment 4 Matthew Orlando 2016-05-19 17:33:14 UTC
I have confirmed this happens with VS 2015 on both my Windows 7 work machine and my windows 10 home machine (which have vastly different Visual Studio & Xamarin installation histories).
Comment 5 Matthew Orlando 2016-05-19 18:21:06 UTC
After installing Visual Studio 2013, I am now able to load the broken project in Visual Studio 2015. Apparently some dependency is not being installed when only VS 2015 is on the machine.
