I followed this example:
But a standard Xcode icon was and is used for my app. Furthermore, before I put my icon, there was nice Xamarin icon which wasn't shown too. And when I press "Show Package Content" on my .app-file, there is nothing similar to an icon.
I haven't tried to set my icon to an app in Xamarin before, thus cannot say, how it was in the past.
Has the way of icon setting changed, or is it a bug or my mistake?
I use Xamarin Studio Community 5.10.3, Mono 4.2.3. My Mac OS X is 10.10.5.
Even more - I tried to add prepared AppIcon.icns to application, putting this name (with and without extension, because Xcode doesn't write icon extension) in key "CFBundleIconFile" of Info.plist, but it doesn't help either.
Could you tell me anything about the problem?
Moving to the right queue.
We had an issue with the ACTool task preventing XM from having app icons.
That should be fixed in our next major release, please try the alpha or beta Xamarin.Mac + Xamarin Studio builds.
Also, we updated the asset editor and our guide isn't up to date anymore. The documentation team is working on the new version.
The way you set app icons is pretty straightforward:
- Open the asset editor (double click on the asset folder).
- Add (right click on the left panel) or use the app icon set.
- Set your Mac app icons.
- In the Info.plist file, make sure that your app icon set is referenced under the app icon section.
If you're still having trouble or questions about how to set the app icons for a Mac project, please feel free to use our forums https://forums.xamarin.com/categories/mac.
