your current version information, steps to reproduce, and relevant error
messages or log files if you are hitting an issue that looks similar to
this resolved bug and you do not yet see a matching new report.
Steps to reproduce:
1) Install VS2015 RTM (v14.0.23107)
2) Install XVS C6SR1 (v220.127.116.11)
3) Upgrade VS2015 to Update 2, also choose to upgrade XVS to latest stable (XVS 18.104.22.168)
Installer hangs when running Xamarin Preparation Tool ... been hanging for almost 2 hours now
XamPrepTool runs, and Install finishes successfully
Not sure exactly what the logs are that will be helpful. I have zipped and attached all the logs in my %temp% path with a 'Date Modified' after I started the upgrade.

While installing VS 2015 with Update 2 i get a dialog box with a message similar to this:
Xamarin preparation tool
Unable to run while setup in progress
What has been wrong ?
Did you have a previous version of Xamarin for Visual Studio installed before updating to VS 2015 with Update 2? If so, could you please let us know what version that was?
I had i my PC the VS update 2 with Xamarin 4.0.2.
I have re-run the VS setup it found some update (Xamarin 4.0.4) and this cause the error.
@Stefano, the message you describe in Comment 21 is expected under some circumstances. You can dismiss the dialog box and installation will continue normally.
There is nothing that may have wrong because of this message, nothing to worry about it.
This message will appear only when upgrading from older versions of Xamarin, so you shouldn't see it anymore as you upgrade from newer versions.
