Description Jon Goldberger [MSFT] 2016-03-18 20:41:24 UTC
## Description

Using Intellisense to override DidReceiveRemoteNotification (and a few other overrides) causes this method signature to be generated with a BlockProxy attribute that contains an unresolvable type NIDActionArity1V52:

> public override void DidReceiveRemoteNotification(UIApplication application, NSDictionary userInfo, [BlockProxy(typeof(NIDActionArity1V52))] Action<UIBackgroundFetchResult> completionHandler)

I assume this attribute can just be removed from the generated method signature, but I don't think it should be there in the first place.

This occurs with some other virtual method overrides as well. Just look in the definition for UIApplicationDelegate and any method parameter decorated with this attribute will include it in the Intellisense generated override method.

## Steps to reproduce

1. Open Visual Studio and create a new iOS project.

2. Open the AppDelegate class and use intellisense to override the DidReceiveRemoteNotification method.

Expected result: Method signature will not include the BlockProxy attribute. E.g.:
> public override void DidReceiveRemoteNotification(UIApplication application, NSDictionary userInfo, Action<UIBackgroundFetchResult> completionHandler)

Actual result: Method signature does include the BlockProxy attribute with unresolvable type NIDActionArity1V52.

## Notes.

Issue does not occur in Xamarin Studio.

I see that NIDActionArity1V52 is part of the ObjCRuntime.Trampolines internal class when I browse the Xamarin.iOS Assembly in Xamarin Studio. However I can not find the Trampolines class when I search or browse the XI assembly using Object Browser in Visual Studio (making sure to show hidden types and members.) Here is what I see in the Assembly browser in Xamarin Studio for DidReceiveRemoteNotification:

>[Export ("application:didReceiveRemoteNotification:fetchCompletionHandler:"), Introduced (PlatformName.iOS, 7, 0, PlatformArchitecture.None, null), Unavailable (PlatformName.TvOS, PlatformArchitecture.All, null), CompilerGenerated]
>public virtual void DidReceiveRemoteNotification (UIApplication application, NSDictionary userInfo, [BlockProxy (typeof(Trampolines.NIDActionArity1V56))] Action<UIBackgroundFetchResult> completionHandler);

And in Visual Studio:

> [CompilerGenerated]
> [Export("application:didReceiveRemoteNotification:fetchCompletionHandler:")]
> [Introduced(PlatformName.iOS, 7, 0, PlatformArchitecture.None, null)]
> [Unavailable(PlatformName.TvOS, PlatformArchitecture.All, null)]
> public virtual void DidReceiveRemoteNotification(UIApplication application, NSDictionary userInfo, [BlockProxy(typeof(NIDActionArity1V52))] Action<UIBackgroundFetchResult> completionHandler);

Not sure if it matters, but notice the difference in the typeof() argument:
XS: typeof(Trampolines.NIDActionArity1V56)
VS: typeof(NIDActionArity1V52))
