RESOLVED NOT_ON_ROADMAP

Description Neal 2012-03-14 13:22:20 UTC
Hello,

I really like the feature in a project's options to get the version number from the parent solution. We have several solutions in which projects are shared and it's nice to have them version according to the parent solution so we don't have version conflicts, etc.

This may be "by design" and if so please take this as an enhancement request. When I change the solution version it causes a file change in the projects in the solution, therefore, a source code control check-in is required as the .csproj file is getting changed. I would hope, and suggest, that there would be a value in the .csproj file that it takes the parent solution's version and therefore has no need to change on disk and subsequently in version control. This way a check-in isn't required or an update from another developer, etc. It's just an "InheritVersion" property or something along that line and changing the solution version should not cause .csproj files to change.

Thank you,

Neal
