Description pperera 2016-02-13 04:42:04 UTC
Occasionally apps written in Xamarin fail to connect to the network.

I'm using HttpClient and the symptoms manifest themselves as a Task Cancelled exception. When this problem does manifest itself I see the following line in the console.

xamarin_start_wwan not implemented

I'm not able to reproduce this 100%. However when it does happen switching wifi off, allowing the 3g network route, resolves the issue. Switching back to wifi and the problem is gone.

> xamarin_start_wwan not implemented

^ That message should only exists in tvOS and watchOS builds.

Please provide us with all* version informations of the software being used and the iOS version of the device(s).

Also the device logs (before and after the message) could be helpful to see the condition when this occurs. If possible please attach them to the bug report.

* The easiest way to get exact version information is to use the "Xamarin Studio" menu, "About Xamarin Studio" item, "Show Details" button and copy/paste the version informations (you can use the "Copy Information" button).

Comment 3 Rolf Bjarne Kvinge [MSFT] 2016-02-15 09:46:51 UTC
I can reproduce this.

It's already been fixed in master, so it's only a problem in the cycle6 branch.

Tentative fix: https://github.com/xamarin/maccore/pull/424

Eta to release?
Comment 6 Rolf Bjarne Kvinge [MSFT] 2016-02-17 08:56:45 UTC
We haven't decided yet, but my guess would be a few weeks (unfortunately I can't be more specific at this point).
Comment 8 Shruti 2016-06-02 08:30:52 UTC
We are not sure about the steps which would help us to reproduce and verify this issue.

It would be great if you provide sample project and steps which help us to reproduce this issue.

@pperera@switch.tv : It would be great help for us If you check this issue at your end as the fix build of this issue must be released at per comment(7).

Thanks!!
Comment 9 Rolf Bjarne Kvinge [MSFT] 2016-06-02 08:56:43 UTC
You can test this by executing (on device):

    ObjCRuntime.Runtime.StartWWAN (new Uri ("http://xamarin.com"));

and verify that this is *not* printed to the device console:

    xamarin_start_wwan not implemented
Comment 10 Shruti 2016-06-02 10:37:08 UTC
@Rolf, Thanks for the information!!

I have checked this issue with latest XI 9.8.0.323 with implementing commment(9) and deploy the app on iPad mini iOS 9.3.2. And observed that ' xamarin_start_wwan not implemented' message is not printing on iOS Device Log.

Hence, Closing this issue.
