3. Switch to "Release - Free" config
4. Open the Project Properties, and navigate to Android Options/Packaging

# Expected result

I'm also experiencing this issue. I've gone as far as to go through my .csproj file and ensure that the sections for my custom configuration and my Release configuration match up exactly, yet I am still not seeing the checkbox for AOT or LLVM enabled.

However, when I set it in the .csproj and run a build, AOT runs. This seems to just be a UI bug in the visual .csproj editor for the Android Options tab.
Comment 2 Tim Brand 2016-05-04 11:29:12 UTC
I'm having this same behaviour on my iOS project.
Created a new build configuration and unable to set the LLVM for my iOS build. Manually enabled it via the .csproj-file of my iOS-project and it seems to work fine then.
In the UI the checkbox is also enabled now, but still can't switch it
Comment 4 Robert 2016-06-11 01:59:08 UTC
I'm getting this with the latest Cycle 7
Comment 5 Robert 2016-06-11 04:31:15 UTC
I'm using VS 2015, enterprise Xamarin license. The AOT and LLVM options are disabled like they are in debug.

Repro create a custom config based on Release.

Xamarin Studio is fine, this just affects Visual Studio.
Comment 6 Jose Gallardo 2016-06-15 12:43:47 UTC
Hi,

The patch wasn't included in latest stable bits (cycle 7). I'm setting the target milestone to Cycle 7 Service Release 1, and I'll mark it back to resolved once the patch has been backported to the Release trunk.

Thanks.
Comment 7 Miha Markic 2016-06-16 08:47:15 UTC
For workaround, just copy <PropertyGroup> settings in .csproj file. VS will still show grayed/unchecked but build will use those settings.
Comment 8 Miha Markic 2016-06-16 08:48:15 UTC
Duh, sorry, missed that this workaround was already mentioned :)

Still/again broken. LLVM is still disabled despite debugging being disabled. This bug ticket lacks the specified information which propertygroup is missing to have the workaround work to specify it manually.
