RESOLVED DUPLICATE of bug 38206

Description Neal 2016-01-15 15:27:42 UTC
Hello,

I've seen this both on the SIM (mainly used) but sometimes on my iPhone 6S in testing adhoc builds prior to sending via HockeyApp to the team. I do a clean all and also the add-in to obliterate output paths to get a clean bin/obj folder area. I then will typically do a solution / rebuild all or sometimes just push a build to the iPhone SIM as it should do a rebuild all anyway after the clean.

When the problem occurs the app is not full screen on the iPhone 6S Plus 9.2 SIM and this tells me the launcher images are not deploying (I don't use a launcher storyboard or xib yet). I then had an issue where the bundled databases were not deployed either such as the sqlite airport database so I got an error and then tried to trace the path recorded for the file that there wasn't even an Application Support folder created.

I deleted the app from the SIM and pushed another clean build and now it works. I've had this same issue doing an Archive All in Release / iPhone to build an AdHoc for HockeyApp.

I'm not sure whether to log this under XS or X.iOS.

FYI

It just happened again. I inspected the bundle and the images are there, I'm not sure what's going on here. This was a push to a previously used sim, if I delete the app or reset the sim it will fix it. I'll add some screenshots

Neal,

Just for clarification, the images are in the bundle, they just aren't being found/used?

Perhaps the Info.plist is not being merged with the Asset Catalogs partial plist?
Comment 6 Neal 2016-01-15 19:07:05 UTC
I did look and the bundle contents to verify the images were there. I did not check anything else so that's possible. I've seen this 5-10 times now.
Comment 7 Jeffrey Stedfast 2016-01-21 19:16:47 UTC
Any chance you can get me a diagnostic build log when this happens again?

I'm having trouble figuring out what could be going wrong with your build.
Comment 8 Neal 2016-01-21 20:45:14 UTC
Jeff,

It's random, but even with this recent Alpha update it did it again. I have to clean/rebuild all to get it to work properly. I'll try to find something of interest, I did look at the info.plist on the sim when this happened and it looked slim but I need to do better and compare with a good one.
Comment 9 Neal 2016-01-24 22:58:47 UTC
Jeff,

Major issues again today (BETA channel). Trying to send Apple a build for TestFlight beta review to do a check prior to App Store review when we go to STABLE. Had issues with assigned images in assets both launcher images and bundle icons being set yet the image wasn't found. I had to reset those images. I finally got a build to apple.

Then I built a beta build for HockeyApp distribution and again had an issue in that I installed it and the app icon was the empty icon (spider web looking white icon) and then the app wasn't full screen on my iPhone 6S so obviously launcher images missing. I captured the bad IPA. I then did a clean all, obliterate output paths (Redth add-in) and then did a release/iphone rebuild all (painfully slow for my large solution with extensions) and then an archive all and it worked this time.

Here is a zip file of the bad IPA and good IPA you can compare whatever you need. Please let me know when you have this zip file so I can remove it from my dropbox.

I will switch this bug to being a duplicate of a new public bug I have filed to publicly track the status of the non-public bug mentioned in Comment 10.
