Description James Montemagno [MSFT] 2016-01-08 01:57:29 UTC
# Steps to reproduce
1.) In alpha create new Xamarin.Forms project (PCL)

# Expected behavior
1.) Since iOS, Android, UWP, and WinPhone/Store 8.1 RT are created the PCL profile should support it.

# Actual behavior
Creating iOS, Android, UWP, Win Phone 8.1 RT, and Win Store 8.1 RT
The issue here is the PCL isn't actually compatible with Win Phone 8.1 RT at all and it has Win Phone 8.1 Silverlight checked not RT

You have to remove the NuGets to actually change the profile which stinks.

I have checked this issue and observed that When I am creating a Xamarin.Forms PCL app I am getting four project Android,iOS, Windows(Windows 8.1) and WinPhone(Windows Phone 8.1)

Screencast: http://www.screencast.com/t/zYy9onO9WN5

All project build/run successfully.

IDE Log: https://gist.github.com/Parmendrak/e19064fa8bece67ec03b

Could you please let me know if you getting same behavior or I have missed anything to reproduce this issue.

Comment 2 James Montemagno [MSFT] 2016-01-11 18:10:35 UTC
Yes, it is creating the correct templates in there, however check the PCL profile on the PCL project. Right Click -> Properties and see the supported platforms. Notice that Windows Phone 8.1 is not selected in the profile. Additionally, when you look at the references in the WP 8.1 project you will see a warning icon there.

Comparing my findings to comment 2 by James, the fix is not working on 4.0.1.78 (d9a4e4). I am seeing Windows Phone 8.1 selected in the PCL profile. You can see this about halfway through the screencast below.

Comment 8 Ben Beckley 2016-01-20 17:38:10 UTC
My conclusion in comment 7 was backwards - the desired behavior is to have Windows Phone 8.1 RT selected in the PCL profile as per the initial description:
>The issue here is the PCL isn't actually compatible with Win Phone 8.1 RT at all and it has Win Phone 8.1 Silverlight checked not RT

So, in 4.0.1.78 this has indeed been fixed. My apologies for any confusion that this may have caused.
