Description mwill 2015-12-09 20:04:34 UTC
I am trying to bind to a java class that inherits from the BaseColumn interface in Android and when I try to build, it gives me a build error that my class cannot have multiple base classes. Java.Lang.Object and Android.Provider.BaseColumns. When I look at the Android documentation, this is clearly defined as an interface:

https://developer.android.com/reference/android/provider/BaseColumns.html

but in Xamarin, it is defined as a public abstract class.

CC-ing Dean.

That is... an interesting overlook.

Quick explanation on the situation: Android.Provider.BaseColumn is not to represent that Java interface. It is there rather to define constants in that Java interface (because C# cannot define constants, we split out those constants into a class).
So there should be "IBaseColumn" interface. But since there is no member, our generator seems to think that it does not have to generate it.

We should fix this.
