The above output shows this comes from Windows -> XVS

If you can duplicate the same on the Mac itself we'll move the bug back to XI.

In any case a full build log (with extra verbosity, e.g. `-v -v -v -v`) is required to see the conditions under which this error occurred.

From Visual Studio, yes.
iOS project compiled in debug mode for ios device.
Rebuild all multiple times.
Seems caused by the signing identity used.
The signing identity has been forced in VS. If not forced no identity can be found.
An automatic tool to fix signing identities like the one in xcode would be a must have.

When built with Xamarin Studio Mac, it also fails with another error:
